Jessie
& the South PERSONNEL:
|
|
Jessie
started entertaining at age nine at local clubs, homecomings, fairs, oprys
and special events, including Ipava homecoming, Schuyler County Fair,
the Illinois State Fair, and one season of local fairs with Jerry Hanlon
and the Midwest Playboys. Special guest appearances include Nashville
North at Taylorville, Illinois; Edinburg's Country Sound, the Mason City
Opry, the Patterson Opry, the Petersburg Country Opry, the Iowa State
Fair with Linda Cassidy, the Macomb Wagon Wheel Opry with Dwayne Sorrells.
Jessie also was house singer for the Petersburg Opry for one year, and
opened for Gene Watson and Carlotta Gayle. |
|
Everett
hit the road at age nine. He has played the Mary Clowers Show, worked 18
months at WGEM-TV (Channel 10) Possum Holler Opry out of Quincy, Illinois,
spent one year doing a weekly live country music show on WBBA out of Pittsfield,
Illinois. Everett has had his own band for fifteen years, working in 46
states, playing music roadwork, clubs, opening and backup acts for Johnny
Paycheck, Johnny Rodriquez, Louise Mandrel, Helen Cornelius, Tommy Cash,
Stella Parton, John Anderson, Tony Orlando & Dawn, David Allen Coe. He has worked The Midnight Jamboree with Earnest Tubbs, and the Ralph Emery Show, played at Roberts, Legends, Tootsies and Maggie Magees. Everett plays multiple instruments—Bass Guitar, Lead Guitar, Rhythm Guitar, Steel Guitar, Fiddle, Mandolin, Banjo and Drums. Other music interests are songwriting and producing. He has been an independent producer for BMI since 1983, has his own record label (MDM Records) and his own 16-track digital studio. |

What can we say? The ladies in the front row are there for a reason! |
|
John
has returned to his honored spot with his Bass Guitar, both at the Opry
and with Jessie and the South. There is no one better, and now we're getting
him to sing, too! |
|
Randy
has been playing music for ten years, performing with American Made and
Deuce's Wild bands locally. He has also played for Don Reed Enterprises
in Nashville, Tennessee, and joined Jessie & the South in 2002. His
father played Steel Guitar for 35 years. Randy lives in Jacksonville,
Illinois, and his goal is to play a lot better than he does now. |
|
Scott
got his start with The South'll Rise Again Band, which included his father,
Jerry, and several of his brothers. The youngest of the Bugg brothers,
he follows two of them as an accomplished drummer. |
The Rest of the Opry Band |
|
|
One
of the most important members of the Opry Band is Bob Young, a popular
guest artist at local oprys. Not only that, Bob is a terrific carpenter,
and he is one of the main reasons we have our theatre for you to enjoy.
When you see him, thank him for all he's done! |
|
On special occasions, Jessie & the South is joined by Jessie & Everett's daughter, Nicky Jean, and she is an important part of the Opry ensemble. (Besides Nicky, aged 14, there are Allen, 19, Cassie, 11, and Abby Rose, born on Halloween, 2003!) |
